A Dolly Show in the Front Row!!!
21 May 2008
Hey Everyone, I am actually using the blog section of our website. It took me a while but I fugured it out.
Anyway, on May 8th I took my friend Kay with me to see Dolly Parton downtown at the Chicago Theatre. Our tickets were for row P seat 210 and 212 but that is not where we ended up sitting. As I arrived and my ticket wasn't scanning and I was about to freak out the house manager who is a friend of a friend came up and solved the problem. By the way, he also said "follow me" and escorted Kay and I to the front and gave us the two seats directly off the left side of the stage! It was amazing, I think I was about 18ft from Dolly when she sang to me during Jesus and Gravity. I couldn't help it I stood up when she came to that side of the stage so she'd see me.
The concert was everything I wanted. There were of course old favorites and a few new tunes off "Backwoods Barbie" I must say one of my favorite numbers was "Eagle When She Flies" She was decked out in all white and rhindstones that matched all the instruments she eventually played. Have I mentioned I love her. There was a costume change and she sang "Baby I'm Burnin" which was great.
So, I didn't really know how I was going to get her a copy of "Devin & The Staights" but I had six with me. As she was leaving the stage at the end of the show before she was going to come back out for the encour, I slid one on stage. It was a scary moment because as she was walking and it was sliding I thought "Oh my god, I'm going to trip Dolly with my cd" It ended up sliding into her platform steleto which she did not feel because is was still about three inces from her foot. I waited till everyone was focused on leaving then chucked five more cds towards the musicians. Unfortunately I hit one of the fiddles just missing the fiddle players head. I don't think he picked it up either, but there is a chance someone picked one up. We'll see!
It is probably little more exciting to hear the story in person so be sure to check us out at one of our upcoming shows! Thanks for supporting us we Love You!
